Class Experience

This one-time class shares drawing tips and guidance to help the student master the art of sketching faces. I will use simple techniques and step-by-step instructions to demonstrate how to draw a face and its features correctly in proportion.

Students will then think about how to express their personality by sketching a self-portrait - splitting their image into a reflective, inner, and outer self. They will be encouraged to add pictures of their favourite activities, people, objects, and places to their design.

A template is provided in the classroom if learners feel that they need a little more support with the activity. Students can use any medium they like, including pencil, crayon, or marker pens.

Learning Goals

Learners will follow instruction to be able to sketch draw the features of the face, paying attention to proportion and lines of symmetry. Students will complete a self-reflective drawing task using the techniques taught. They can share their work and for peer review if they wish.

I am a qualified teacher in the UK with over 25 years’ experience, delivering high quality learning content in schools and for online providers. I have extensive experience teaching IT and Digital Technology classes and I love to teach Earth Sciences, History, English, Art, and Craft classes too. My personal passions for Digital Art and Graphic Design also feature in my choice of classes. I currently enjoy tutoring students in many different countries, and I am excited to share my skills as part of this online learning community.

My classes are intended to be engaging and fun and I passionately believe that online learning can support and enhance the existing school and home ed curriculum. I use a range of digital tools and online services in my classes to enhance the learning experience.

I am a patient teacher and encourage all to fully participate in their learning. Every class aims for a 'can do' environment with students positively challenged throughout each session. Mistakes are embraced and rewarded by self-improvement and a growth in confidence. I have experience of teaching children with a range of differing needs, and aim to make all lessons as inclusive as they can be.

I am a Mum to 2 children, (12 and 14). We enjoy digital technology, reading, long walks, and playing music together!

I am happy to offer private tutor sessions by request.
