In My Hero Academia, the constant fights between heroes and villains do not necessarily give a clear definition of good versus evil. This class will give learners the opportunity to analyze various world leaders or today. They will have a chance to determine if the leaders would qualify as a hero or as a villain depending on the learner's definition of what makes a person a hero versus a villain. We will discuss the various hero agencies and which agency each world leader we discuss would belong to. All together we will look at 8 different world leaders from various countries. This class is 60% social studies where we will cover the biographies and actions of these various leaders as well as their geographical locations. The other 40% would be My Hero Academia discussions. When we look at the world leaders, we will talk about their childhood, their journey to power, how they use their power, and in what condition is their country in. I will use slide shows for visuals. On the last day of class, learners are welcome to present their conclusion about each leader that we discussed. They are to talk about how they came to the conclusion of each leader's role if he/she was a character in My Hero Academia. * There will be different point of views on the people discussed and that is encouraged. As a class, the learners will come up with their own definition of "good" and "evil" in class. We will always go back to our definition of good and evil and we will put our leaders up to our definition and decide which category they fit in. ** Learners are always welcome to cosplay during class. They are also invited to show their art work. I would like to invite all artists to create their very own original characters (OCs) based on the world leaders that we discuss. Class 1: We take a look at the different hero agencies and what they stand for. Prior to class, learners should have taken an MHA quiz that would help them see which hero they are most similar to and which agency they would have been accepted into. We will also look at the two categories of the villain organizations. In the later classes, if learners decide that a world leader is a villain, we will talk about which organization would they have joined? Class 2: Joe Biden (USA) Class 3: Xi Jinping (China) Class 4: Boris Johnson (UK) Class 5: Nana Akufo-Addo (Ghana) Class 6: Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil) Class 7: Vladimir Putin (Russia) Class 8: Scott Morrison (Australia) Class 9: Yoshihide Suga (Japan) Class 10: Putting it all together with class presentations. Though I will not require it, I highly recommend each learner to present their work on each leader or on their favorite leader. In a world that is often divided based on individual's opinion of good and evil, I would like to challenge learners to take a stand and be able to defend it. I challenge all other learners who disagree to have an open mind and be willing to analyze further why they think what they think. This class invites all My Hero Academia fans to learn about today's world leaders in a more entertaining way. Heroes and villains do exist in our world, it all depends on us and how we define them. I look forward to having discussions with your learners.

Parental Guidance
Please note that this class is meant to study various world leaders. As such, there is a potential that we will be discussing subjects that may include violence and sexual in nature depending on the different leaders. There may even be sensitive topics that involve discussions on race and gender as well as politically sensitive topics. I will be presenting facts and learners are encouraged to critically think about the current events and form their own opinions.
The anime show, My Hero Academia, also has violence and content that are for older children. Since our discussions will involve this anime, please be aware that there will be discussions around violence, gender preferences, race and other sensitive subjects.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Sources
We will define good and evil according the the learners' definitions and look at each leader's behaviors based on their definitions. Because this class is based on current events, we will be looking at multiple sources to learn the different sides. I am here to have the learners learn to critically think and form opinions for themselves. I am also here to guide them through the different sources and learn how different writers try to persuade their readers.
Sources will include:
1. Smithsonian History
2. Daily newspapers (learners can find articles from their own newspapers and share during class)
3. Online news including but not limited to: CNN, Al Jazeera, BBC
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching social studies to elementary, middle school and highschool students for over 5 years both online and in person. We look at closely events in the Ancient world all the way to the Modern world. I make sure that discussions are age appropriate but do not leave out truths about the events that have occurred.
My focus is to teach learners how to think critically for themselves as to form their own opinion rather than to blindly follow others. We will be looking at different sources when we discuss sensitive subjects that exist today.
