This course is meant to teach crocheters that are ready to move on to the next level in their crochet skills to create a simple garment. Previous knowledge such as how to hold a crochet hook and are familiar with basic terminology (chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet), and how to execute these stitches is required. Participants will learn the following information: - Session 1: Tools and tricks crocheters such as how to make straight edges and handy crochet tools -...
The goal of this class is for participants to walk away with a basic understanding of how to read a crochet pattern and begin working on their first crochet garment. The pattern I will be using in class is the Ava Fringe Poncho by Ashleigh Kiser (https://www.sewrella.com/ava-fringed-poncho/) and the Picnic Poncho by Breann Maudlin (https://www.hookedonhomemadehappiness.com/picnic-poncho-crochet-pattern/) and participants are welcomed to create this design during course (I've made multiples of both). Participants are asked to bring a hook and yarn to every session to practice the topic that is discussed.
Homework is not assigned, however, it will be important for participants to practice and apply the skills and knowledge from each session before the next class in order to maximize class time.
For each class: - a crochet hook (preferably a size 5.0mm hook or larger because it's easier to use at this level) or whatever size you need for your project - a skein of yarn (preferably a 4/worsted weight or larger because it's easier to practice with) or whatever size you need for your project
No assessments will be given.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
The pattern I will be using in class is the Ava Fringe Poncho by Ashleigh Kiser (https://www.sewrella.com/ava-fringed-poncho/) and and the Picnic Poncho by Breann Maudlin (https://www.hookedonhomemadehappiness.com/picnic-poncho-crochet-pattern/) to teach the topics in the course.
