Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner Level
If your child is obsessed with sharks you are in the perfect place! My First Reading Club: Sharks meets weekly for 20 minutes per class. Each class is independent of all the others and the content does not build from the previous class, so your child may come and go at any time during this ongoing class. Young learners will have an opportunity to gather virtually with friends and their teacher to listen to books being read to them about their favorite topic! Books will be non-fiction and the class will be structured as follows:

1. Greetings
2. Storytime: A book about a different species of shark will be read each week.
3. Show-and-Tell: Learners may bring their favorite shark toy to share with the class
4. Goodbyes

I teach and lead young learners in a patient and engaging environment. My teaching style is to make sure each learner has fun while learning. My primary goal is for each learner to enjoy reading and to learn that reading for pleasure can be a fulfilling hobby. My secondary goal is for learners to enjoy being in class and interacting with the teacher and classmates. Learners will be able to interact with me and other classmates during the discussion of the books as well as during the Show-and-Tell portion of the class. Please reassure your child that they may speak in class if they'd like to during Show-and-Tell, but they are not required to speak if they don't feel comfortable doing so.

Following is the outline the course will follow and the books that will be read, all by author David Dexter:

1. Week of July 4, 2022 --- Bull Sharks
2. Week of July 11, 2022 --- Great White Sharks
3. Week of July 18, 2022 --- Hammerhead Sharks
4. Week of July 25, 2022 --- Lemon Sharks
5. Week of August 1, 2022 --- Mako Sharks
6. Week of August 8, 2022 --- Nurse Sharks
7. Week of August 15, 2022 --- Sand Tiger Sharks
8. Week of August 22, 2022 --- Tiger Sharks
9. Week of August 29, 2022 --- Whale Sharks
10. Week of September 5, 2022 --- Oceanic Whitetip Sharks

I can't wait to meet your child in my online classroom for some reading and fun!
Thank you!
Mrs. Kristi
