My First Piano Adventure is my absolute favorite lesson course for new-to-piano or transfer students around the late 5 into 8 range! I love the series’ colorful pictures and stories kids relate to. Young beginners will learn important foundational piano-playing concepts: proper finger-hand-arm posture and movement, letter key names, basic rhythms, and successively challenging series of note reading patterns! This is a fun, simple ongoing class. As this is a one-on-one class, each lesson is structured around the individual student’s prior skill. New students age 5-6 start with Level A Lesson and Writing Book. Transfer students ages 5-6 and new students ages 7-8 may start with Level B or C after evaluation. We will work on 2-3 assignments per class to master through 10-30min daily practice at home. An additional level-suitable Faber solo book (Disney, Classical, Popular Songs) may be added per request! We will progress quickly through Levels A, B, C, giving students solid technique and reading skills before starting Faber My First Piano Adventures Level 1! Requirements: 5-7 year olds- Guardian attends first four classes off-camera to understand and help with homework. 8 year old- Guardian should attend first class off-camera to help child understand practice structure and assignments but no requirement after! Parents of 6-8 year olds may also gently supervise practice for at least first four weeks. This helps students feel comfortable and understand expectations. Like any school homework, parent involvement correlates to success! Feel free to step in to help practice as needed. Parents of 5 year olds should consider almost daily supervised practice for best results.

Hi, I'm Ms. Grace. I teach beginner to advanced piano. I'm passionate about level, age-appropriate lesson books and pieces that fit my students' interests!
I started piano at age 5, as many classical pianists do. I studied with Rowan University piano faculty at age 15. While working on my degree at Brigham Young University, I took lessons in Vienna, Austria with faculty at the University of Vienna and the Vienna Konservatorium. In 2014, I graduated with a piano performance degree from BYU under Dr. Richard Anderson. Since then I’ve taught privately, judged in Encore and other regional competitions. I worked at the Utah Piano Academy for two years. I now run a piano studio full of happy, awesome kids. I am an active member of the Music Teachers National Association. I often prepare students for ABRSM, RCM, and local exams and events.
