My First Film Club - Ongoing Movie Fun With Friends!
Class experience
Does your little learner love watching movies? Let's learn a little bit more about what makes them so special! Each week, students will explore a new movie, learn to communicate their thoughts effectively about movies, and practice identifying what key elements of the movie are. They will learn to summarize the climax and resolution points of storylines, identify a film's genre, understand the motives behind characters, and even imagine what an alternative ending to the movie may look like!...
Students will improve their understanding of how movies are made and what makes them special. They will use their imagination as film directors to discuss what they liked and didn't like about each movie. And they will learn to properly and effectively communicate their thoughts about each film.
As a ten year veteran of the entertainment industry, and film aficionado, I have worked on over 30 productions in my career. I have a deep understanding of the production values that go into films. I will apply my own knowledge of film analysis in order to encourage critical thinking and open discussion among the students.
Students will be required to watch the movies prior to class. Most of these movies should be available on a number of streaming platforms (such as Netflix/Amazon/Netflix). I have included a running list of what movies to expect in the coming weeks in the class information section, which gives families ample time to find and watch each movie.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
All movies are rated G or PG. I understand that people's viewpoints of movies (and whether or not they are appropriate) may vary, and therefore parents are encouraged to watch the movies ahead of time to ensure they are comfortable with their child watching them. If there are any concerns with the movie choice, please address this prior to signing up for the class with the teacher.
We will be watching movies that are found on a variety of streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime. Please be sure you are able to find and watch these movies before the class begins.
Hello Outschool Learners and Fellow Parents! As Mr. Rogers once said, "The best teacher in the world is somebody who loves what he or she does, and loves it in front of you!" Although my Bachelor’s Degree is in Broadcasting & Communications,...
