Do you want to learn drums, but are looking for a budget friendly way to begin? Consumer Electronic Drum Pad sets (easily found online on Amazon and at retail stores such as Wal-Mart and Target) can be a budget friendly entry point for many families looking to explore the possibilities of playing drum set. If you use a table top electronic drum kit, (or another similar inexpensive electronic drum kit) and are wanting to learn the basics of drum set playing, this class is for you. In 3...
In 3 weeks time, you will learn how to count and read music, play essential drum beats and fills, all while developing your hand-eye coordination and mental concentration in the process. Additionally, you will learn to compose and write your own drum music and be introduced to some options for expanding the sounds present in the kit you currently own.
Drumming is a learned skill and with any new skill it is important that time is spent reinforcing the concepts and ideas learned in class. I recommend a minimum of 15-30 minutes of practice per day.
Learners will need to have purchased an inexpensive consumer grade electronic drum set similar to the ones found on Amazon or at retail stores such as Walmart and Target in order to participate effectively in class. Common brand names for these kind of kits are: Paxcess, QoQoba, Wildcat, Electronic Drum Set. Drum sticks will also need to be purchased. Common brand names for drum sticks are Vic Firth, Pro-Mark, Zildjian, Regal-Tip. Often times you can find a package deal on Amazon that also includes a practice pad and sticks, along with the electronic drum pad set you are purchasing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
