The world of politics can be rough, cutthroat, brutal, and sometimes amusing. Join us as we examine the American political races, specifically focusing on presidential races. American politics have evolved over time, yet many of the characteristics we see in elections today have been a part of our political system since the earliest elections. In this course, we will advance through our history, exploring the ins and outs of each election. I believe in a fair and balanced approach to studying history and government, and it is always a key objective in my courses. Students should feel free to express their own opinions and present alternate points of view. Get $5 off my class "My Fellow Americans: A History of Presidential Elections" with coupon code HOODELECTIONS5 until Oct 30, 2021. Politics can be controversial, and issues raised during campaigns can be divisive. A good number of presidents are alleged to have had extra-marital affairs. I may note that in a course if it applies to the election or reelection of a candidate. I will not go into any detail about such affairs. A few presidents are alleged to have had children outside of their marriage (Thomas Jefferson comes to mind) and, again, that may be covered in the course but without explicit detail. A few presidents participated in duels; that will be the limit of conversation about violence in this course. Please rest assured that the content for this class will be age-appropriate.
