US Grade Kindergarten - 3
"Citizen of the Day" is an original story, written by Eddie Rivera, the teacher of this class, and is one of a collection of stories involving a young boy, about the same age as my learners. In this story, young "Eddie" works to earn a student award. We'll leave it at that. The stories are relatable to the everyday lives of young, inquisitive learners. The class is friendly and casual, with an interactive style. Learners can ask questions, sing along, and learn simple life lessons. I will also interact individually with each student as much as possible through the storytelling process. Stories are followed by a brief discussion.
Learning Goals
Learners will practice good listening skills, and enhance their ability to communicate with others.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
The class is friendly and comfortable. I make it a point to interact personally at least once or twice with each student during the class. Participation is encouraged but not mandated. Learners are able to contribute as much or as little as they would like. I find that with most classes, by the end of the story, all of the students are engaged and happily singing along.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a kindergarten teacher in the LA Unified School District, and I also worked in summer camps for a few years out of college. I currently work as a professional writer/journalist. Each of those work experiences involved storytelling.
