My Chill Zone: Create Your Own Personalized Relaxation Retreat

Class Experience

*Participants will understand how color and emotion are related and identify colors that are relaxing to them.
*Participants will learn how sensory elements such as color, sound, light, texture and even smell can affect emotion.
*Participants will gain skills to help them create a space for personal relaxation. 
There will be follow-up tasks after the first two sessions.  Tasks are open-ended but should take between 10-30 minutes.
during each session: paper, writing/drawing instruments
for follow-up assignments: magazines, catalogs, scissors, glue, paper (week 1) 
empty water bottle or glass jar, oil, sequins, sparkles or glitter for calm jar project (week 2)
optional materials to create chill zone may include: (I will be encouraging participants to treasure hunt for items they already have at home) beach towels, cozy blankets or pillows,  real or fake plants or flowers, music source, chimes or percussion instruments, fabric with a variety of textures, wood, shells, rocks, or art

This class is not assessed.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Safety in the Chill Zone: We will cover these in each session.  Please make sure your learner understands these important safety tips. 
*only use battery-operated candles
*keep liquids or water away from outlets
*never drape fabric over a lamp or cover a vent
