In this class students will be introduced to Muslim culture through literature. We will read "Bashirah and the Amazing Bean Pie," by Ameenah Muhammad-Diggins and "My Kufi." By Adil Ismaaeel. By reading these books students will learn about some of the foods eaten during holidays that Muslims celebrate and traditional clothing that they wear. They will get a basic introduction to arabic commonly spoken in daily Muslims lives. This class will use children's books to bring the culture to life. We will sing songs and tell stories. It will be light and fun keeping in mind the age of the students. The teacher will be dressed up in traditional Islamic attire usually worn during holidays. Students will also get to see traditional sweets eaten as well.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of Islamic culture and Islamic holiday's.

I am an educator and author my name is Sabriah. I have been teaching for 23 years now! I have taught pre-k up to 12th grade every subject there is. I especially love to teach poetry, english, public Speaking and life skills. I am a mother of teenagers so I totally understand the voice of our youth. I believe that learning should be FUN!
