Students will learn all of the basics of musical theatre as we develop skills in acting, singing, and dancing. We will focus on building upon the three main tools of the actor: body, voice, and imagination. We will begin with a physical and vocal warm-up, followed by a character development lesson featuring a scene from the Broadway musical "Annie." Students will create a New York City street scene and explore how setting can impact acting choices. We will work on choreography to a portion...
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will want to have some space in their learning area to be able to move and learn choreography. No prior stretching is needed, as we will do a gentle physical warm-up as a group. Sneakers or comfortable closed-toed shoes are required. Always have a water bottle nearby as we will be moving and singing in this class.
