In this ongoing class, learners will learn about and practice the wide variety of musical theatre dance styles.
Class experience
Do you love Musical Theatre? Interested in learning new dance styles? Want to dabble in choreography? This class will provide a comprehensive view of the variety of dance styles featured on stage and in movie musicals. Each week will feature a theatre style of dance including: basics; a bit of history on the song/show; series of 8 counts of choreography; opportunity for creation of dance moves and self expression. Students will increase experience and knowledge of a variety of dance styles displayed in the Musical Theatre genre.
As with any physical movement class, parent guidance is suggested to ensure safety of the students. I will provide adequate stretch time within the class.
Supplies: -Open space to move -Students will be informed ahead of time if a prop is needed for the dance that week -Attires: Comfortable clothing is encouraged. No required footwear. -Optional: chair or table to practice balance moves
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As with any physical movement class, parent guidance is suggested to ensure safety of the students. I will provide adequate stretch time within the class. Please help your student to find an appropriate space (free of clutter, with space to move without kicking or hitting any objects or furniture). Footwear should be something your student feels sturdy in (no dance shoe requirements, I will be wearing grip socks on carpet in my space). I suggest water bottle availability as well to maintain proper hydration.
