Class Experience

In this 8 week long course, students will learn songs and a script based on  “Moana”. We will do acting and vocal exercises to help improve singing and acting skills. Students will audition the first day and the cast list will be decided by the 2nd class. Everyone will be asked to sing parts of songs from the show to help determine where their voice fits best. 
 Students will then begin learning their songs and scenes. Students will be coached individually and in groups by the teacher. Backgrounds, and/or costumes are encouraged, but not necessary.

Day 1: AUDITION DAY! Students will do theatre game and sing songs and scenes from “Moana”.  Students will be asked to sing or read for parts they are interested in. 
Day 2 Call backs! Students will do theatre game and sing songs and scenes from “Moana”.  Students will be asked to sing or read for parts they are interested in. 
Day 3 Students will warm up vocally and read through the script and begin working on songs.
Day 4 Discuss characters, costumes, props, and virtual backdrop. Review/begin songs and read through script with notes.
Day 5 Students will do an acting game. Students will review songs and run 1/2 script. 
Day 6 Student Will do acting games and singing warm-ups and run the second 1/2 of the script
Day 7 Dress Rehearsal! Students will run through script and get feedback. Review songs and work out the problem areas.
Run show!
Day 8 Students will review songs/script. We will perform the show two times. Students/family may see show in the recorded lessons. 


Costumes are welcome, but not necessary!

Students will learn vocal exercises to help improve their singing technique.
Students will audition for roles in a musical.
Students will play a part in the musical and collectively learn the songs and dialogue.

I am a graduate from the University of Miami where I received a BM majoring in music education. I am a Florida CERTIFIED TEACHER in Music K -12, Elementary Education K -6, Birth-Pre-K, and ESE K-12. I have been teaching for 17 years, all levels of voice, music, and musical theatre classes as well as directed and music directed children’s musicals and musical theatre performance camps.  
I am also a working singer/actress and I have performed in many musicals playing roles such as "Babe" in the Pajama Game, "Maria" in the Sound of Music, "Laurie" in Oklahoma, "Julie" in Carousel, "Sarah" in Guys and Dolls, and "Bakers wife" in Into the Woods.
