This musical theatre dance technique and Broadway choreography class prepares aspiring performers for the stage! This is an open level dance class but is recommended to those with some prior dance experience.
Class experience
In this ongoing musical theatre dance class, I will endeavor to cultivate a star presence in every student! My goal is to train each student to become more confident and proficient in their dance technique for success in musical theatre auditions, rehearsals and shows. I will teach a variety of dance styles as musical theater spans all genres, including but not limited to jazz, ballet, tap and ballroom elements such as swing and latin. We will be dancing a lot in this course. Be advised I am fully capable to safely lead your child through dance, as a trained and experienced musical theatre dancer of 28 years. I hold my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Florida. I am also a certified yoga teacher and possess additional knowledge of safe movement for the body. That said, injury is always possible when dancing. Since I am not there to adjust in person, please stay aware of your child’s needs as much as possible during class. Always provide them with ample water before class begins. Thank you!
Homework Offered
Homework will solely pertain to practicing choreography, memorizing songs and a personal commitment to short, daily voice development.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

No dance shoes are necessary, but they are welcomed! I will usually choose to dance barefoot with them. You don’t need dance shoes to become a wonderful dancer or to cultivate star quality!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Although I will use discretion in choosing musicals and song material that are family friendly, please be advised that some content can be mature and potentially offensive. That said, I will be careful to assign songs that are age appropriate. If there is ever an issue, feel free to privately message me and I will be happy to adjust an assignment.
