Class Experience
- Enhance the Learner’s understanding of building a character. - Develop the Learner’s a ability to quickly analyze plot through song lyrics - Give Learners the tools to create a personalized framework for preparing their performance. - Facilitate Learners to share their singing and acting talents within a supportive and safe classroom environment.
A 2010 graduate of the internationally-acclaimed Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, my 10+ years in the acting industry, here in the U.S. and in my native United Kingdom, have seen me appear on world-renowned stages such as the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre as well as Emmy and Oscar-nominated Television and film projects. What I teach in my class is what I practice in my work and so learners can expect to learn tools being used in the profession today!
**IMPORTANT: When ready to share a piece of singing in class, please make sure you have some way of playing a backing track on either a phone or speaker** Ideally, Learners should have access to hardwired internet or a stable WiFi connection when attending class. Make sure you are situated at a table or desk so that we can easily see your face when reading/performing your songs - the less you have to hold or interact with the device you are attending class on, the better! If you are attending class on a TABLET and don't have the ability to bring up multiple windows at the same time, make sure you come prepared with a printed copy of the sheet music for any song you may wish to share. If you are going to be working on a paper copy of the material, make sure you have a pencil and, ideally, a highlighter to hand to make notes. Earbuds or Headphones with a mic are recommended - we want to be able to hear all the wonderful contributions to class on the first go!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal, verbal feedback will be given to students during class sessions. Be open to receiving feedback from your classmates too! I try to foster a supportive, non-judgmental classroom environment so constructive ideas from everyone are welcome.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The curriculum has been created by the teacher specifically for use in this class. Students are also encouraged to bring songs to class that they can choose to discuss or perform on the day.
