Class Experience
In this class, students will learn and practice various Musical Theater singing techniques that will make them more memorable and powerful performers. The student will have the opportunity to perform musical theater songs of their choosing. Depending on the learner's song choice and personal performance goals, I will coach them on specifics like healthy belting, acting-through-song, vocal style choices, and additional repertoire options. Students will develop a better understanding of how...
Students will improve their stage presence, vocal and emotional expression, intonation (ability to sing on pitch), breath support, tone production, diction, placement and much more. Students will strengthen their acting skills and learn how to create a compelling performance. Students will learn about healthy vocal production and vocal care because they are essential to being able to sing well.
Hi Everyone! My name is Miss Meghan. I love to teach singing techniques that help my students discover their own unique voices and style of expression. I encourage positivity, fun, and confidence in my classes. I am always so excited to work with my students and that energy never fails to spark creativity and active imaginations. I believe involvement in performing arts is a fantastic and important way for kids to discover who they are and how to express themselves. They learn to be open-minded as they literally put themselves in other people's shoes. The confidence, expressiveness, and empathy that kids learn in performance arts carry into every aspect of their life. A bit about me, I graduated from the Musical Theatre program at Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts in Toronto, and have completed my RCM voice exams and won extensive awards at Music Festival in Toronto. I have also had the privilege of learning from Broadway stars such as Laura Bell Bundy, Kara Lindsay, and Samantha Pauly. Besides singing, I have skills in broadcasting and public speaking, I have worked as an on-camera journalist and a radio show host! I am a certified vocal coach and love musical theatre and helping my students achieve their goals! *For private lessons please message me directly.
Students will be expected to print out sheet music and will need to spend time marking their music, memorizing lyrics, practicing vocal exercises and breath work, and rehearsing any song they are assigned. Students may spend anywhere from 15-30 minutes per day, 4 to 7 days each week practicing or working on vocal assignments. Amount of time spent is flexible and dependent upon the student's goals and age.
Be sure to have one (1) song prepared that you know well and love to sing. Have a backing track ready on a different device to sing along to (you can find these on youtube). For example, if you are joining the meeting on a computer, use your phone to play the backing track.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
