Musical Storytime

In this ongoing class, kids will work on reading/listening comprehension using musical storybooks written and performed by the teacher. This method is a very fun way to learn useful reading comprehension skills while having fun!

Class Experience

We will play many songs/ soon to be published storybooks created by the teacher! All of them have a useful moral and adventurous theme.

We will focus on:
- Reading comprehension
- Pronunciation
- Spelling
- Grammar
- Finding details
- Answering questions about stories
- Writing their own stories/songs
- Homework (optional) - I want this class to be truly helpful for kids English as well as having fun. I know some students may already have enough homework while others can benefit from having some more English homework to complete between sessions. Please let me know if you would like your learner to be assigned weekly homework. I do not provide grades but can do so upon request.

Class structure:
*We will begin by reading the story together as a class.
*Next, learners will take turns answering reading comprehension questions about the story. We will cover specific English proficiency skills such as pronunciation and grammar within the story, such as rewording exercises.
*Finally, teacher will perform the song. Learners are encouraged to sing along or play along if they know an instrument, or use a makeshift drum!

Here is the schedule of storybooks for the first 4 weeks:

Week of June 3: Ukulele Dreamer
Week of June 10: Blue Sky Eagles
Week of June 17: Unicorns of the Mountains
Week of June 24: Forest of Fruit

*Ukulele Dreamer is about a cat who loses his ukulele in his dream and must go on an adventure to go find it. The story compels readers that adventure is right around the corner if one follows their dreams.

*Blue Sky Eagles is about two eagle siblings who struggle to fly but once they learn, they soar to a secret place that only blue sky eagles know about.

*Unicorns of the Mountains is about mysterious unicorns that are only seen by children.

*Forest of Fruit is about a new, worldwide goal of making every public place into a forest of food. With people of every continent working towards a truly self sustaining, regenerative, and beautiful world where people don't have to pay to eat and obtain true freedom.

Learning Needs
I have worked with many kids with ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD before and have seen how excited all kids get pairing music and writing when I have taught songwriting in the past! I got the idea for this class from that experience!
