In this class, students will listen to many different types of music, ranging from classical to jazz to world musics. For each listening example, students will draw what the music would sound like if it were a painting or drawing. In between each listening example, the teacher will offer their thoughts as well as what they drew. There are no right or wrong answers - just imagination and creativity! Learners will get to interact with me after each listening example through: discussion...
Students will have an opportunity to hone their creativity, imagination, and critical listening skills in this musical-artistic activity. Students will translate what they hear in the sounds of a wide-ranging selection of musics to pen and paper (or crayons, colored pencils, or any other artistic implement!)
No homework will be assigned for this class.
Students can either use the teacher-provided handout to draw their musical paintings, or may use any paper they have available. Students may use any artistic writing implement that is available to them (pencil, pen, colored pencils, crayons, paintbrush, etc.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will discuss with the teacher how they came to create their musically-inspired drawings and designs.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
