In this early childhood music class, your young musician will go on diverse musical adventures with familiar friends, taking first steps to being tuneful, rhythmic, expressive musicians.

Are you ready to sing, dance, and play your way through a musical adventure? We have used many different frameworks for this class, including Little Einsteins and familiar SongTales. In this version, classes with coordinate with Bluey episodes. The popular series makes extensive use of classical music, folksongs, instruments, and musical games, many of which we will explore in class. While listening to works of classical music and looking at classical art are an important part of cultural literacy, the main focus of this class will be creativity, collaboration, and cooperation. Musical goals of this class include: - singing with correct vocal placement (head voice) - singing bravely and with accuracy within a group and in solo situations - singing with expression and enthusiasm - active listening - maintaining beat motions and patterns with chants, songs, and recorded music - moving expressively to music - feeling thoughtful responses to music and art - beginning to understand form and function in music and art
Annette is a certified music teacher (preK through 12th grade) as well as a licensed Kindermusik educator and has over 2 years of experience in early childhood music education.
Specific supplies for classes will be listed the week before each class and additional "missions" will be listed in the online classroom for in between classes. For every class, I suggest having the following materials gathered together in a basket where learners have access to them. These can be "real" instruments or improvised from materials you have at home * two wooden sticks, pencils, spoons, or something to use as rhythm sticks * something that jingles, such as a bell * a lightweight ball to roll and toss * a drum or something to use as a drum * a shaker, rattle, or container filled with small pebbles or stones * a scarf or something lightweight that can be moved to music, such as a muslin receiving blanket, a dishtowel, or a playsilk
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
