Description
Class Experience
This 4-class experience will allow your child to learn new musical concepts through the fairy tale "Rapunzel," using popular and traditional characters, stories, movies, and songs. Using our four voices, high and low, loud and soft, fast and slow, and musical storytelling, we will discover together how everything is better when you sing it. The class will be active and include storytelling, creative dramatics, singing, playalongs, dancing, and more. We will be singing many "every day"...
Learners will match and sing high and low pitches and will also explore instruments playing high and low sounds. Learners will move their bodies, play, and sing to a fast and slow beat. Learners will respond to music with body percussion and instruments. Learners will use instruments, movement, and their voices to tell a story. Learners will create their own stories to tell with instruments and their voices.
This singing camp camp is one of I have taught multiple times and is always a crowd pleaser! Annette is a certified music educator for grades preK through 12, a member of the National Association of Teachers of Music and certified Vocal First Aider, and a complete musical theater and Disney geek.
While there is no homework, there are optional "daily missions." These involve creating instruments and costumes out of items commonly found in the home. I also love seeing artwork and projects the learners have created on their own!
Please keep a small basket for camp with the following materials available to use throughout the week: Something that makes high sounds and something that makes low sounds, such as two different pots and pans with wooden spoons to use as a striker, something to use as a dancing scarf, such as a lightweight dishtowel or baby blanket, something to use as a drum, something to use as rhythm sticks, a metal instrument such as a pot and pan lid, and crepe paper or ribbons for dancing.
3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will refer to the traditional fairy tale tellings of Rapunzel, as well as the movie and other popular retellings of the story.
