This one time class explores making music with fun animal-themed songs. We will focus on developing foundational musical skills-- singing on pitch, listening carefully, keeping a steady beat, moving expressively, and enjoying the process of making music together. Students will be singing simple songs, listening to musical examples, playing simple percussion instruments, playing musical games, and moving to music expressively. We will change activities often, meeting the students where they are developmentally in regards to music and attention span. No musical experience is required. This class is designed to be a joyful introduction to music. We will be having fun singing, dancing, and playing instruments to animal-themed songs.
Learning Goals
Students will be developing their skills in the following musical areas (and more): singing on pitch, listening carefully, keeping a steady beat, and moving expressively.

Parental Guidance
Learners will need some open floor space where they can comfortably move to the music. For younger learners, parent support may be helpful, although to protect everyone's privacy, parents should remain off camera. There are a few instruments/supplies which can either be gathered from materials in the student's home, or can be purchased from various retailers. (See supply list for more information.)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Erin. I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance, and have been teaching music to students from babies through high school for the last 25 years. I believe that every student has the potential to make and enjoy music. I teach with the goal of helping students to gain the skills they need to develop their musical abilities and gain a life long love of music. I like to keep my classes very interactive and geared toward a student's developmental level, using games, songs, listening exercises, playing instruments and more. I began my musical career playing violin at age 5, and have studied piano, voice, saxophone, clarinet, and especially flute.
