Advanced Level
In this class, students will dive deeper into music theory to learn more about how music works and make more sophisticated musical compositions. This course is structured to expand past "Music Theory With Dr. Bliss: Semester 3" for learners to learn about the harmonic sequence and common modulation techniques. Students taking this course should have taken "Music Theory With Dr. Amy: Semester 3" or go to the course listing to make sure they are familiar with the concepts covered in that class. If you have any questions about which semester is right, please reach out and I'll answer any questions. This class is structured in a flexible discussion style with visual examples and ample time for questions. We spend time discussing the new material, reviewing previously covered material, and spend any extra time answering questions or practicing our dictation (writing down what we hear) on melodies, intervals, and rhythm. Each week, I analyze how well the students seem to be absorbing the material and adjust next week's lesson accordingly to make sure that students can have enough time to grasp the material.
