In this class we will learn the very basics of music theory to advanced. In the first class I will determine what the learner currently knows and determine a curriculum. Topics to be covered (but not limited to): -Grand Staff -Intervals on the staff -Basic notation symbols -5-Finger patterns -Major/Minor Scales -Key Signatures -Modes -Primary Chords -Secondary Chords -Cadences -Form -Chord Inversions -Chord Symbols -Basic Composition -and more! Special to pianists: -5-Finger patterns -Harmonizing a simple melody - Students will meet once a week for 30 minutes. - All lessons are One to One. - There is no pre-requisite knowledge required, however, some instrument can be helpful. Each lesson will go at the student’s pace. Depending on the topic the learner is working on I may: -demonstrate material on a white board, magnet board, staff paper, or even on the piano.
