Class Experience

Welcome to Music Theory Level 3! Unlike Levels 1 and 2, learners in Level 3 will try their hand at specific styles of music theory. From Medieval modes to 17th century counterpoint, from 20th century serialism to Jazz harmony, learners will discover a new style of music analysis each week. 

Each week, learners discover a new method of music theory analysis and how to use it. Learners will then try their hand at applying this method of analysis to an appropriate piece of music. I will send...

Students will learn about historical and modern methods of music analysis, and how to use these methods.

I have a Bachelor of Music degree in classical piano performance and Master's degrees in music history and music theory, as well as doctoral certification in piano performance and historical music theory analysis.

A one-page handout will be provided before class. Learners are welcome and encouraged to print this before class so that they can take notes during class.

50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
