Please note: There are no live meetings for this class. In this 8-week course, students will learn foundational music theory concepts as they apply to the guitar. Traditional music theory is often taught from the perspective of the piano, but this course focuses on the guitar. Each week, we will cover a crucial topic that every guitarist should know. The class is structured to build on the previous week's material, providing a comprehensive understanding of music theory for guitarists. Students will see the value in knowing music theory and gain a better understanding of their instrument, beneficial for both hobbyists and serious musicians. The classes will be lecture-style with interactive elements, where students are encouraged to have their guitars with them. I will use notation and diagrams to explain the material, and all resources will be available for students to study between classes. This class is suitable for beginner, intermediate, or advanced guitarists. Even those with technical skills but limited music theory knowledge are welcome!
