Intermediate Level
This Level 2 Music Theory self-paced class is great for learners looking to explore more advanced musical concepts and delve deeper into chords. Learners will get the most out of the class if they've completed my Music Theory Level 1 class or similar. They should be able to read music in both treble and bass clef, know the major scales/key signatures, and have a basic understanding of intervals. If you are unsure whether your learner is ready for this class, please reach out to me. Lessons will be presented using a piano keyboard as a reference, and students should have a basic understanding of the layout of piano keys. However, students do not need to know how to play the piano to complete the class. Each unit will include listening/ear training activities and a written assessment completed through Nearpod.
Learning Goals
By the end of the class, students should feel comfortable identifying primary chords in root position and inversions. They should also have a basic understanding of chord progressions, and how using inverted chords can make them sound smoother.
