Description

Class Experience

By the end of the twelve weeks, the learner should be able to recognize and identify any key signature, and construct any major or natural minor scale, as well as any interval, construct and identify just about any major, minor, diminished, augmented, suspended, and 7th chord, understand chord inversions and progressions and be able to analyze chord progressions in a piece of music.
As a professional musician, I love helping others learn about music and how it works, and hopefully develop their love for the same!

The age range of this class is around the age that I first was introduced to Music Theory, and I fell in love with it. It gave me such a deeper understanding of how music works and has played a huge part in my career as a performing artist, and especially as an arranger and orchestrator.
Worksheets and online exercises (using musictheory.net) will be supplied at the end of each class to help the learner reinforce what they learned that week. The homework should not take more than about 45-60 minutes for the learner to complete each week.
 3 files available upon enrollment
No supplies needed. Learners should either have access to a printer to print the worksheet or the ability to complete it digitally (on a tablet, for example) and pencil or some other means of completing the worksheet each week and either be able to scan or photograph the completed worksheet if they want to upload it for me to see. But that is not absolutely necessary or required, because we will go over them each week together as a class. I also will provide a PDF of blank music staff paper that learners can print or use digitally during the classes.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is no formal assessment, but students can upload their worksheets and online exercise score reports to help me gauge their progress.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Exercises will be made available on musictheory.net for review and additional practice.
