In this class, students will learn the basics of music theory to be able to write their own melodies in major keys, harmonize them using different chords, and identify many of the most popular chords used in music. Students should be comfortable reading music (including sharps and flats) in at least one clef to enroll in this class. At the beginning of each week, I will post an instructional video, handout, and weekly assignments as a unit. Students will receive a booklet with all of their...
Class homework will be assigned each week and some students may need a bit of extra attention and work to get them ready for the class like working on reading pitches in a new clef or working on understanding sharps and flats.
Learner progress is continually evaluated through student assignments and questions. Students will receive individualized assignments and feedback to make sure they are understanding concepts.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will use a variety of sources during this class. Information covered in the instructional video and Nearpod unit so that students can interact with the learning material.
