Reaper Digital Audio Workstation Spitfire LABS - Soft Piano & Synth Pads Logic Pro Digital Audio Workstation- To be used ONLY IF Learner prefers to use Logic over Reaper. This does cost $199, which is why it is an option only if the Learner prefers to use it over Reaper.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will do an informal assessment at the end of each week of the course to ascertain what learners will benefit from learning in further Music Production Through Songwriting courses. These assessments are meant to figure out what I should teach to each individual students, not what students are doing correctly or incorrectly in the course.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Dependent on the musical genres chosen by each learner, there may be sensitive content covered. I will do my best to select music examples that do not contain sensitive content, and if I cannot find alternatives, I will make sure the clear the songs and their content with parents, learners, and Outschool. I do require two materials that are not approved by Outschool. One is Reaper, and one is Spitfire LABS. Reaper is a Digital Audio Workstation, or an application to be put on the learner's computer that will enable to student to write, edit, mix, mock-up, and master music. Spitfire LABS is a set of free Software Instruments created by the Spitfire Company. Both are essential for the class, and they are apps that I use regularly in my professional carer. They are also both free. There is no alternative for Spitfire LABS. The alternative for Reaper in Logic, which does cost ~$200 and is not as powerful of a tool. If you have any questions or concerns about letting your learner use these tools, please reach out to me. I am always happy to help.
We will use various popular songs, both current top songs and classic songs in each genre.
