Class Experience

This meetup is to serve the students. Everyone will share musical projects that they have been working on and will get the chance to get feedback from myself and their peers. Continuous projects can be shared each week as they progress or they can drop in for just one week and share something they've been working on. I will be offering my expertise on all aspects of production and other students will provide feedback from their own personal perspectives as music enthusiasts.

Focuses for discussion include music composition, recording, and mixing for all genres. Topics can range from basic songwriting techniques to performance to audio production.

This course is for the teens out there who have been sitting on music projects and need a push to finish them, or who need a little bit of expert advice on their work. Students who flourish in this course are students who give and take critique in a professional and constructive manner, as well as who have something to contribute to the conversation. Everyone will leave each meeting with new inspiration and a direction to go with their respective projects, or maybe even a collaboration buddy!

A standard meetup will involve students sharing and critiquing each other's work. I will offer my advice on each aspect of the project as well and will even share my own works to demonstrate certain ideas and concepts.

It is of the utmost importance to be respectful of other people's work in this course. Constructive criticism is the only criticism that will be allowed. Any violation of this rule will be addressed as a class. That being said, it is also important to have a thick skin and be able to accept opinions that don't necessarily match with your own. We're here to grow together, not to tear each other down.

It is also very important to be mindful of sensitive material. Please avoid sharing projects with explicit content and/or language. This is also a safe space, so please do not share any projects featuring sexist, racist, homophobic, or transphobic content. I have a zero tolerance policy for hate speech.

With all of the rules in mind, let's have fun and create a safe and uplifting environment for each other so we can all create the best music that we can!
Learning Goals
