Class Experience

We will sing and sign our welcome song followed by a sensory ball rhyme where we move the ball from our head to our toes. We will explore the different sounds our shakers can make and starting/stopping playing our instruments and fast/slow following my visual clues. We will then tap along with my Ukulele as I sing 'What colour are your eyes/hair/skin'? song to celebrate our differences. We will then make our own soup with our sticks and add ideas for their favourite ingredients. Get your play dough ready and we will have fun splatting, squashing, rolling and squeezing our dough in time to the music. We will then take our favourite bear and listen to live music whilst viewing an under the sea visual which is perfect for mindfulness.

Other Details

Learning Needs
Is designed specifically for those with unique learning needs. This includes non verbal pupils & those with restricted movement. I will support their learning needs through Makaton signing, visual clues and also the volume of the music.
Parental Guidance
This class is also suitable for pupils with restricted movement but will need parental help for some activities. Will be using play dough so some supervision may be needed at parents discretion. Please note that this class is designed for younger students but I have left the age range flexible as slightly older children may also benefit from the class.
Supply List
A coloured scarf, sensory ball (although a normal tennis ball is adequate), shaker (egg shaker, homemade shaker or rainmaker is fine) A ball of play dough or mouldable clay. Your child's favourite soft cuddly toy.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Thank you for viewing my profile. I live in Derbyshire in the UK with my husband, two teenagers and two very lively dogs! I love being creative in my approach to teaching music and love playing variety of instruments including Djembe drum, Samba band, Ukulele, Flute & Piano and Junk percussion!
I have been teaching whole class music in primary or elementary schools for the past 14 years and also have a few 1:1 pupils I teach online. I love the way music crosses all barriers, boosts our self esteem, helps us to express our emotions and creativity. Music should never be boring so I like to teach in a fun and engaging way.

I have a Trinity College London Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators.
I teach 1:1 classes in Ukulele, Flute & Piano (Up to grade 3). I also teach group African drum and Junk percussion lessons and early years music.
