This is the Flex Version of our live Music and Movement in Spanish ongoing class. Even though we will not meet for live classes, we will still have plenty of interaction via weekly feedback videos and learners will benefit from the introduction of hands-on, off-screen activities related to the class. We will be having just as much fun! POSTING SCHEDULE Every Sunday you will receive via Classroom post: 1. A video with the Music and Movement Class of the week 2. A printable pdf with the lyrics in Spanish of one of the songs we are playing that week 3. Digital Flashcards with vocabulary from the class (printable) 4. Three coloring sheets reinforcing class vocabulary 5. One or two pdf activity sheets with an accompanying short video where the instructor will explain what the activity is and how children can complete it (cut and glue activities, playdough and crafts) You can watch the videos and complete the activities any day of the week and as many times as you would like. INTERACTION - Every week children will be asked to post a video or photo of their completed activity and coloring sheet to the classroom, so that the instructor and classmates can admire their work. Depending on the level of Spanish proficiency, the child can also describe their work on the video, the colors they used and why they liked the activity. - Parents will be asked to help their learners comment on their classmate's posts to promote interaction. They can also upload short videos commenting on their classmates' work. - Every Wednesday and Saturday the teacher will upload short videos providing feedback to the students that posted their work to the classroom. We will also be available throughout the week to answer any questions you might have. CLASS CURRICULUM In each class, children will be introduced to basic concepts like animals, colors and numbers through the universal language of Music. Each session is fun, active and engaging. A selection of Children Songs in Spanish guides the class from start to finish. Activities are related to the lyrics, in order to familiarize the children with the words and their meanings. Some of the songs encourage the children to dance. Nilda uses puppets, musical instruments, and props to teach children basic vocabulary through action and interaction, rather than through translation. All classes start with a welcome song "Vamos a Jugar" and end with a goodbye song "La sonrisa es flor". We also have a fun guessing game in every class with our Surprise Basket and always play musical instruments (musical toys) for a couple of minutes to get children moving and engaged, as well as familiar with following a beat. In addition, we will learn the following subjects through music and games: Class #1 - Colors in Spanish with "The wheels on the bus" song and Animals of the Jungle. Craft of the week: playdough bus Class #2 - Numbers 1 - 10 and introduction to immediate family members in Spanish. Craft of the week: we will make a set of finger puppets with craft foam for the song "El twist de los ratones" Class #3 - Parts of the body in Spanish with "Head, shoulders, knees and toes" song and animals of the sea Craft of the week: let's make two baby sharks in the ocean Class #4 - Let's sing, dance, play a game and practice the colors Craft of the week: we will make a fish with craft foam to play with the song un amigo me enseñó PRE-REQUISITES - Since we use Music as a vehicle for teaching, we have seen children of all levels of Spanish proficiency enjoy the classes. However, the class is taught 100% in Spanish and some familiarity with the language is recommended before taking it. NEXT CLASS - Once you complete this course, you can take the second part, which has 4 more weeks of fun videos and activities with different songs and topics.
