Music Listening Lounge and Social Club
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Please be prepared for class by selecting an artist or album that you would like to discuss. Ideally, you will be able to provide some facts, let us how how you discovered the artist, and what you like about them.Class Experience
Do you love music? Perhaps you want to practice giving album reviews on YouTube, maybe you want to meet other teens who share the same interest as you, or discover new music. This club will give you the opportunity to do exactly that! Each week, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge about a song from an album/music artist of your choice via Youtube. I understand that music and art can subject to sensitive topics but your selections must be classroom appropriate - as your facilitator, I have the right to stop a video if I believe it is not appropriate. This is includes but is not limited to: gratuitous cursing, sexually suggestive content, and depictions of violence. If you feel unsure, you can ask me to take a look before class begins. If the song is appropriate but the video is not, you can share a lyric video. When you have finished sharing, other students may ask couple questions before we move onto the next student if you wish. If the class is not full, we will take turns. This is designed to be a positive music sharing experience! Under no circumstance may learners be disrespectful towards each other and our music choices. We may have different opinions and tastes, that is okay. It is not okay to put others down for their opinion. Let's have fun and discover music together! 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Introductions Each learner will be invited to share a track (~5 minutes long max) and share information about it If there is time, some learners may share a second track; Learners who do not get to share a second track in the current week will be placed first in next week's rotation Final Questions Goodbyes 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲: Our discussions will be student-guided with some facilitation from myself. Each week will be different based on which song, artist, or album the learner is discussing. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀: 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴: • For general inquiries and messages, please be advised that I will do my best to reply within 24 hours. 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽: • Please note, I log into all my classes ten minutes early. During that time, I will do my best to assist you if you require technical help. However, I need to begin class at the start time. If you are unable to connect, we may need to address technical issues after class. 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀: • All of my classes operate under Outschool’s Standard Refund Policy: Refund within 24 hours of payment until your next meeting or lesson access begins. More information on this policy can be found here: https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/4626920-class-specific-refund-policies-and-automatic-refunds • Payments for classes cannot be transferred to future weeks. • If your learner misses a class meeting, you are not entitled to a refund. In the event that class is missed, a recording of the class will be available for you in the classroom after the session has been completed. • This policy applies when you have notified me of an absence ahead of time; the payment holds your seat and gives you access to the recording. • You may withdraw from the class and re-enrol if you do not wish to be charged during an extended period of absences. You may also opt for the pause feature but please note a pause does not hold your seat. If you wish to have your seat held, you can opt to pay for the subscription. • Please note that due to safety policy - in the event where you are unable to attend the first class you have registered for, the recordings of the class will become available after your first live attendance. • There are no discounts issued for siblings and/or the registration of multiple classes. 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: • If a student is late, I will greet them and continue the lesson. I will not be able to reteach content. Once the session has ended, the recording will be available in the classroom. 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: • If you have not completed the Outschool Learner Verification process, I will require you to begin every class with your webcam turned on. You may turn it off once you have been verified by me, if you wish. • Learners who are not verified and do not connect to a webcam will be put into the waiting room until they are able to reconnect to the meeting with a working camera. If I am unable to verify a learner during the class time, I will follow-up with both the adult who registered the learner and Outschool's Trust and Safety Team. • If a class is full, I may review “mute”, “unmute”, and “raise hand” options for effective classroom communication • I may call on learners and help facilitate conversation; I ask that only one person speak at a time. • Learners may use the “chat” feature to communicate • If learners are not able to use the "chat" feature in a respectful way (ie. they spamming the chat or being inappropriate), the chat may be set so that learners are only able to speak with the instructor. • If a learner is unable to adhere to these guidelines or is being disrespectful, they will be given up to two warnings. If a learner continues with disrespectful behaviour they may be put into the waiting room or be asked to leave; they can follow the rest of the class through the recording posted in the classroom.

Hello!
I'd like to thank-you for taking a moment to learn more about me.
My name is Rae and I have been a full-time instructor on Outschool since 2021. I am passionate about arts, media, technology, learning, and the way that they correlate with each other. I offer drawing classes and social clubs based on special interests.
I received my BA in Theatre and English from the University of the Fraser Valley. During my time there, I directed and performed in a number of stage productions including: Once in a Lifetime by Moss Hart; Arabian Nights by Mary Zimmerman; and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Theatre is an important aspect of my life: it has taught me to be confident, how to collaborate with others, and how to manage multiple projects with close deadlines. These are transferable life skills that have helped in every aspect of my life.
My approach is encouragement and reciprocal curiosity. I take a genuine interest from the input of my students because they offer bright ideas and I firmly believe that we learn and grow from each other. I am happy to hear about the special interests that your learner is passionate about and want every child to feel celebrated for who they are. My classroom rules all revolve around the idea of safety: be kind to each other, yourself, and the space you are working in.
I like to spend my free time tending to my plants, cooking healthy food, and playing video games such as Stardew Valley, Genshin Impact, and Final Fantasy.
