In this 4-week course students will learn new techniques on guitar, piano or voice. Bonus - I'm also happy to help students learn to sing and play their instrument at the same time!

Guitar Students: 
Students will learn popular chords and rhythms used across genres in music today. I will guide students through learning chords with a combination of tabs and demonstration.  Depending on a students experience with guitar, we will explore basic chords and rhythms, all the way to finger picking and more complicated tabs. We will start to learn scales and review the notes on the guitar to get each student more familiar with their instrument. This course will give students the tools to continue their guitar journey beyond the class, with the skills to be able to learn chords, rhythms, tabs, finger picking and/or scales on their own.  

Piano Students:
Piano Students will learn the basics of piano including sheet music, scales, chords, rhythms and keys.  We will learn about basic music theory and put it to practice in the songs that we play throughout class. Students will learn how to play with both hands and use exercises to build dexterity in their fingers.  Learning sheet music and chords will help students be able to translate songs they hear into something they can play, and even sing along to if they want.

Voice Students:
Private vocal lessons in pop/rock and musical theatre styles. We will start each lesson with instructional warm-ups meant to build our vocal agility and range. We will then spend the rest of the class working on material the student has prepared and wants to work on. I would also be happy to recommend material that fits their voice type and level. We will learn and work on vocal techniques that will bring the material to life.  If the student is interested in musical theatre and acting we can also work on some acting and audition coaching in addition to our vocal technique. Students can either sing using a karaoke or instrumental track (you can find a lot of these on Youtube) or Acapella.

No previous knowledge is required for this course, just a passion for learning music! This course is perfect if you need to schedule weeks in advance and guarantees a spot for at least 4 weeks. You can renew for the same time slot with another 6-week course if you'd like to continue. It is also well suited for students who are enrolling through a school program or charter school.
