Class Experience
Music Game Hour is a general music course designed to get students excited about learning about the expansive world of music through fun games and friendly competition. We cover a variety of introductory music concepts in the following categories: MUSIC THEORY (melody, harmony, song structure), INSTRUMENTS (keys of the piano, strings of the guitar, ukulele or violin, instruments and their country of origin), SIGHT READING ( names of the notes on the Grand Staff), RHYTHM (note values and...
Students will learn the fundamentals of music through games and friendly competition. They will learn the notes of the Grand Staff, simple and complex rhythms, instruments of the world and how they work, guitar, ukulele, banjo, violin and mandolin string names, the keys of the piano, different genres and styles of music and music history.
There is no homework for this class. Just show up and have fun!
They should have a percussion instrument for the rhythm games. Even a pot and spoon will do the trick!
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
