Come and join us for this exciting musical scavenger hunt where each week students share songs and artists and explore new musical genres and sounds.
Class experience
US Grade 6 - 9
Music is can bring people together and inspire you, and everyone has their favorite artist or musical sound. There are so many different styles and sounds in music, that it can be hard to explore them all. In this Summer class, students will be able to share songs (following the below topic list) and listen to new music shared by their classmates. My goal with this course is for everyone to walk away each week with at least 1-3 new songs/artists/musical styles to add to their playlist....
I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions. I have a passion for history, organization, reading, and learning. You can usually find me in the middle of 2-3 books or watching a documentary. I am also an Outschool ACE Educator, which means that I continually seek out ways to improve my teaching skills and knowledge, as well as the learner experience. Some of the seminars/courses that I have attended in the past are: Foundations for Teaching and Learning About Native Americans; The Presence and Absence of Asian America: What Truths Lie Beyond the Headlines; Using the “Diary of Anne Frank” to Amplify Students’ Voices; Painting a Just Picture – Art and Activism.
Homework Offered
Students will come to class with 1-3 songs (following each weekly topic prompt) to be shared in class.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
There will be Youtube videos that are seen during this class. I will share my screen and learners will not need to access them on their own. Some of the artists that we will discuss will have had hard lives or have lived the stereotypical rock-n-roll lifestyle. All discussions will be kept at an age appropriate level.
