In this one-time class, students will learn and create rhythmic patterns using words associated with Thanksgiving and fall.
Class experience
During this class, students will practice creating rhythmic patterns using words associated with Thanksgiving and Fall. Examples of words could be "turkey", "football", "corn", etc. We will sort the words first by the number of syllables/sounds they produce. Students will then work together with the teacher and each other to create 4 to 8 beat rhythms using words as rhythms. Students will practice reciting words rhythmically. Students will learn to sort words by the number of syllables. Students will learn to connect familiar words with rhythmic patterns. Students will practice steady beat. Students will learn to fit words within 4 to 8 beat patterns.
