During this class, students will practice creating rhythmic patterns using words associated with spring. Examples of words could be "sunglasses", "beach", "ice cream", etc. Students will work together to sort the words by the number of sounds/syllables. Students will then work together with the teacher and each other to create 4-beat rhythms and 8-beat rhythms, as time allows. The words and syllables will mostly match quarter notes, eighth-note pairs, sixteenth note groupings and sixteenth note/eighth note combinations during the lesson. The primary focus of this lesson is to allow the students to create and play fun rhythms without the pressure of reading music notation alone! The students will have an opportunity to see and connect the words with the music/rhythmic notation as time allows. *Students are welcome to bring small percussion instruments such as rhythm sticks to play along.* **Without the minimum amount of learners, this class is subject to be cancelled. Parents will have the option of transfer as available.**

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I am teacher Amber, and I am so happy to meet you. I am a certified music teacher (K-12) and special educator. I taught music full time for six years as a brick and mortar teacher in a public elementary school, as well as a non-public school for student with special needs. After having my son, I began teaching ESL online and have taught English lessons for the past 2.5+ years. I hold my B.S. in Music Education K-12 and have my M.Ed in Special Education. Growing up, I knew I wanted to be a teacher and have worked with learners ages 1 through 21 in multiple facets since high school.
I have a passion for working with learners of all abilities and allowing them to be creative exactly as they are. I love teaching music concepts to students using fun and engaging activities. I believe children learn best when they are having fun and are in a positive environment. I am always looking for inventive ways to help my students enjoy and remember musical elements. I understand the importance of mulit-modal teaching, and strive to apply this in my lessons to reach all learners.
In my classes, your learner will be met with a kind, encouraging and patient teacher who is ready to teach AND learn! I welcome curiosity and I promise that if I don't know the answer, I will try to find it so I can keep learning too! I am looking forward to teaching lessons on Outschool, and I cannot wait to meet you.
