Class Experience

Do you love music? Want to spend time with fellow music addicts? Then this is the place for you!

In this informal club, students will have the opportunity to interact with fellow music lovers and share the experience of listening to some of the greatest albums of all time. Each week a new album and background information about the artist will be posted in the classroom. We will then come together to discuss the album, share our highlights and lowlights, and talk about the album's impact on music, the world, and our lives. Genres will vary and students will no doubt expand their musical palette.

Together we will grow our analytical skills, work on discussion techniques, and engage in some friendly debate. We'll also work to make connections between the music we hear and other topics we have studied in school or seen in current events.

Check back here often for updates. I will always post upcoming albums 2 weeks in advance. Students are welcome to enroll at any time and be a part of the conversation!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Whenever possible I will provide links to the clean versions of albums that contain explicit lyrics. Some songs may contain references to violence, drugs, sex, or other controversial topics. When these do arise, they will be treated sensitively and we will discuss why the artist chose these themes in the context of when and why the song was written.
Supply List
Each week students will be provided with a short slideshow that introduces them to the album, artist, and provides some context. Students will also receive a link to the album and a curated list of tracks to listen to.

I will make every attempt to provide Youtube links to the assigned albums. However, students may also benefit from signing up for a free Spotify account to have easier access to the songs and save their favorites.
