This course will introduce basic music concepts that are foundational for all music learning! For students wanting to or are already studying piano, violin, voice, cello, drums, band instruments, or any other musical instrument - this class is the perfect fit! - Message me to request a class time that works for you! - **Students do not need any background in music or access to musical instruments in order to attend this class.** ***Students will need to know how to unmute themselves for this class, so younger students may need to have an adult or older sibling on hand to assist them when necessary**** Here's what we will be covering in this class: Week of July 10: Quarter Notes Week of July 17: Half Notes Week of July 24: Dotted Half Notes Week of July 31: Whole Notes Week of August 7: Treble Clef (high sounds) Week of August 14: Bass Clef (low sounds) Week of August 21 : Piano (soft) sounds Week of August 28: Forte (loud) sounds Week of September 4: Legato (smooth) sounds Week of September 11: Staccato (short) sounds Week of September 18: Note Names: Treble Clef - Focus on E Week of September 25: Note Names: Treble Clef - Focus on G Week of October 2: Note Names: Treble Clef - Focus on B Week of October 9: Note Names: Treble Clef - Focus on D During each class session, we will: - Introduce ourselves - Sing a welcome song - Practice drawing the musical symbol/concept assigned for that week - Demonstrate the musical symbol/concept on an instrument or hard surface For this age group, learning musical concepts during short periods of time (25 minutes) is a perfect length of time to keep them engaged with the subject while also having fun! Reviewing these same topics a number of times over the space of a semester will help young students retain the information when it appears later on in their private music lessons or group music classes at school!
