50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
During this class, students will gain a broader understanding of the violin - everything from how it works to the most important skills that every beginning violinist has to master. Students do not need to have an instrument or any musical experience for this class, and this class is primarily designed for children who do not have experience playing a violin. We will discuss the parts, accessories, and care of a violin first. From there, we will dive into how a violin produces its sound and the construction that makes it possible, which means we will be covering some of the science of sound! We will explore what tuning and intonation is and why it’s so important. Of course, I will also show you the secrets to success for beginners if you ever decide to try out a violin - and these secrets will probably surprise you, but they are common knowledge among professional violinists! Throughout the class, I will be demonstrating the concepts on my violin, and students will have opportunities to interact by answering and asking questions.
