Join our interactive music and movement class to sing, dance and play together while learning Spanish. In this class, Nilda uses puppets, musical instruments, and props to teach children basic vocabulary through action and interaction, rather than through translation. It is a fun, active and engaging immersion experience. Every week, children are introduced to basic concepts like animals, colors and numbers through the universal language of Music. A selection of Children Songs in Spanish guides the class from start to finish. Activities are related to the lyrics, in order to familiarize the children with the words and their meanings. Some of the songs encourage the children to dance. All students are individually greeted by their names. They also receive feedback when participating in different activities and are encouraged to repeat some of the words. Songs used in class Some of the songs are Spanish versions of songs children are already familiar with, like The Wheels on the bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Open Shut them, Head, shoulders, knees and toes, and many others. Vocabulary Guides As part of the course, you will receive illustrated Vocabulary Guides in PDF format. Each guide explains the vocabulary for one of the songs we play in class. They are a valuable resource for reinforcing the words learned. Pre-requisites - Since we use Music as a vehicle for teaching, we have seen children of all levels of Spanish proficiency enjoy the classes. However, some familiarity with the language is recommended before taking this class.
