This 4-session course introduces how to write and arrange music using the MuseScore music writing software program.

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
The instructor personally uses MuseScore for writing instructional materials, melodie, transposing, arranging, and composing music. This class has been taught several times since the summer of 2020 with good reviews.

Special note on tuition: The instructor reviews each student's daily submissions to provide immediate feedback so the student can make corrections before the next class session. Thus, students need to work on the daily assignment and upload it within a few hours after each session.
Homework Offered
The student will be able to produce three short projects: 1) Two assignments by the teacher that have the same end result for all students 2) A creation by the student using the same principles as the other two assignments The student is required to spend time learning the software program and completing the assignments. Generally recommended time is 20-30 minutes per day, 5 days per week. Some students may need more time.
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessment: 1) Completing the assignments between class sessions that build knowledge and skill on the program 2) Completing the planned curriculum assignment designed by the instructor 3) Completion of the music project of the student's choosing All assignments must be emailed to the instructor for review. Instructions about this will be given in the first class session.
