Murder Mystery: Can You Solve the Mystery?
Class experience
This 2-day class will test students' inferencing skills to “read between the lines” as they try and solve a murder mystery! Practicing good inferencing is an important step to becoming a better reader and deeper thinker. Inferencing helps us to figure out what is not being explicitly stated. Students will receive 24 clues to try and figure out the murder mystery by the end of the second class. I will reveal the clues a few at a time, and give students time to write down inferences and guesses...
I taught this lesson many times to my students in school and they loved it! This class is geared toward teaching inferencing skills. Making inferences is a very important step toward full comprehension and deeper thinking about texts. This activity is a fun way to sharpen those skills!
