Novice learners of Spanish ~ no experience necessary. If you love animals, and learning Spanish, this is the class for you! This on-going class, Mundo de Animals, provides students a class to learn rich vocabulary about animals, from mammals to insects, birds to reptiles, and amphibians (land and water animals). We, animal-lovers, will speak in Spanish to discuss what we know, identify new words, read in Spanish, share our opinions, make comments, and sing songs as well, all in our virtual...
This class is taught in Spanish.
Students will learn to speak correctly using correct pronunciation of Spanish (more of a neutral Latin-American accent). Students will learn vocabulary and recall facts for animals (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects), habitats, foods they eat, in the natural world. Students will speak in Spanish during each class and learn to navigate conversations (questioning techniques and simples questions + examples of ways to respond.) Students will apply understanding of vocabulary to answer simple questions in class and ask them to fellow students. Students will learn to speak another language in a more holistic and natural process. Students will have fun and be challenged beyond what they think they can do.
Homework is optional if students want to practice their Spanish words. Besides watching the videos of the classes, students can (1) read over the notes provided from each class and (2) practice speaking/saying the words we learned. Study time: about 5-10 minutes. The goal is that the student can recall/read the notes without help, even teaching family members what they learned.
Daily classroom assessment and feedback/encouragement from the instructor per pronunciation and vocabulary.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
