What's included
5 live meetings
3 hrs 45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will learn how to record and edit multitrack recordings of themselves performing on their band instruments using free programs. We will learn how to edit sound files using Audacity including how to import, export, layer, splice, fade, and amplify audio. We will also learn how to produce a video with multiple frames in WeVideo. In addition to creating and editing multiple frames in WeVideo we will also learn how to layer the audio we made with Audacity as well as add text and other transitions. We will meet for 45 minutes once a week for five weeks to learn the material, however, students are encouraged to practice using their new technology skills outside of class time in order to really grow and develop. Classes will consist of teacher led instruction with lots of opportunity for students to ask questions throughout the lesson. There will also be class time allotted for practicing the new skills so that students can ask questions in real time. Students need to have the ability to perform at an 8th grade level on their band instrument. Additionally students will need a computer, preferably the computer they are using to log into the class zoom. This computer will need to have access to a free account of WeVideo (www.wevideo.com) and will also need to download the free sound editing software Audacity (https://www.audacityteam.org/). Lastly, students will need a secondary device and headphones to play a metronome on. This could be a cell phone, tablet, etc.
Learning Goals
At the completion of the course students will be able to produce a multitrack recording of themselves performing on their band instrument. The recording will include video and more than 3 tracks.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an instrumental music teacher that loves teaching students strategies to help them create and make musical performances digitally during the Covid-19 pandemic. With a bachelors and masters degree in music education along with 12 years of experience that includes adapting to online learning, I am eager to share my expertise to keep kids making music while at home!
I am also a mom to two amazing young girls and a beautiful beagle dog. The entire family can often be found in our music room with Emilee (4) "playing" drums, Bree (1) "playing" the piano, my husband Will playing trumpet, and me playing whatever is nearest. Music is essential!
