Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
Intermediate Level
In this class, I will focus on all of the foundational skills of reading. This will include lots of repetition and multisensory learning. In each class, I will incorporate phonological awareness practice, review the sounds that we know, high frequency words, letter formation, spelling and reading words. A consistent structured routine for these skills will allow students to see their own progress, be confident in their answers and becoming very fluent in the skills that we are learning.

All of the skills that are taught in this class are beneficial for learners with dyslexia, dysgraphia or may be struggling to decode words with fluency and accuracy.

Every other session, I will introduce a new concept. The first session will give students exposure to the concept. The second session will include more in-depth practice and repetition. With each new concept, students will complete an assignment that will allow me to assess their mastery after the two lessons that were taught that week. I will communicate with families how their student is progressing and if any additional practice should be done for specific skills.

Throughout each lesson, students will be asked to respond to questions verbally, via the chat box as well as by writing answers down. This will allow me to monitor their understanding as the lesson progresses.

Because of the consistent spiral reviewing and repetitive practice that will be seen throughout the course, students will be able to sporadically miss lessons or being the course late and catch back with with where we are.
