Class Experience In this one-time 50 minute class, students will master the skill of dividing a whole number by a fraction and dividing a fraction by a whole number. After taking this class, students will feel confident in their ability to divide fractions and whole numbers. Class Outline Throughout the lesson, students will be encouraged to actively participate. The class will begin with a 5 minute ice-breaker. Ice-breakers are so important for building a supportive classroom community....
Learning Objectives: -Students will be able to independently multiply a fractions by a whole number. -Students will be able to independently multiply a whole number by a fraction. -Students will be able orally explain their thought process when multiplying fractions and whole numbers. -Students will be able to reduce their answer to the simplest form.
I have a Bachelor of Art's in Elementary Education specializing in integrated sciences from Michigan State University. In 2018, I graduated from Oakland University with my Master's in Reading and Language Arts. I have taught for a total of 5 years in a traditional Brick and Mortar classroom. I also have experience with online teaching. I have been teaching with VIPKid for over a year. Multiplying whole numbers by fractions and fractions by whole numbers is a mathematical concept that I have taught in a traditional classroom as well as online. I am able to identify misconceptions and guide students to the correct algorithm. I am able to adjust my teaching to meet the needs of the learners.
For homework students have the option of completing additional fraction multiplication problems.
Students should come prepared with a notebook for scratch paper and a pencil.
Class participants will be informally assessed throughout the duration of the class. I will be informally assessing students to better tailor my instruction to meet the needs of the students.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
