US Grade 4 - 7
Discover a NEW WAY of learning the multiplication tables. ~~ In this class we are breaking the rules of learning multiplication - no more memorizing, skip counting, singing songs or tricks - with Times Tales we simply sit back and listen to some stories with 6 lively characters. That's it! This award-winning program utilizes a right-brain, visual learning mnemonic method that 'triggers' a memory cue making recall of the upper times tables effortless and fun. Each class has a balance of lively, fun video clips, game-type questions, and opportunity for discussions with both teacher and fellow learners. Why does Times Tales work for students with dyslexia and dysgraphia? ~~ Oftentimes dyslexic students may not retain a large amount of information or facts at one time, therefore providing anchor visuals essentially helps them to link information in a way that they can picture as making sense. With the Times Tales method we use mnemonic techniques to take away the typical memorization of numbers and replace it with associating numbers with characters and chunking them together in parts. Instead of needing to memorize a number sentence, students simply remember a story. Inside the story, multiplication tables are hiding, if the students know the story, they will know the answers! ~~ Dyslexia Reading Connection, a nonprofit corporation has been using Times Tales for over 15 years. ~~ An independent report published by Florida National University showed an average increase in test scores of at least 70% in students with learning disabilities after they used Times Tales. What multiplication tables are covered in this class? ~~ This course consists of 3 classes: Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3 of the Times Tales. Each class is one hour and 15 mins long. ~~ Part 1 covers the multiplication tables of 3x6, 3x7, 3x8, 3x9, 4x6, 4x7, 4x8 and 4x9. ~~ Part 2 covers the multiplication tables of 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9, 7x7, 7x8, 7x9, 8x8, 8x9 and 9x9. ~~ Part 3 is a FUN review class of the first and second class plus our highly popular Introduction into Division: The Times Tales Way! By asking one simple question, learners are able to answer simple division problems with ease. Do students need to know their lower multiplication tables to be in this class? ~~ NO! No prior knowledge of multiplication is needed. Times Tales is designed for all learners. ~~ These classes are taught by Marcy Drexler who has been trained to teach this method and with great results. She has 2 degrees in education, is patient, positive and understanding that all students learn in their own unique ways with their own timetables. Marcy Drexler is not specifically a dyslexia tutor, so this class is not designed to improve dyslexia. This class is here so learners with dyslexia or dysgraphia can easily master their upper times tables without the requirement to perfectly read and write numbers. Our goal is for children to find confidence in mastering their upper multiplication tables while having fun.
